Today I will offer some of my photo collection of cooled or cooling pahoehoe formations (click on any imag for a bitof a larger view size). As for the current lava flow along the coast, it is continuing to delight spectators with lava flowing off cliffs along the edge of the huge ocean entry plume. Dry weather and having a smile-faced moon sitting with the planet Jupiter is a plus :)
DONATE TO NEW LAVA FILM: Not just a movie about molten lava - This will be an EXPERIENCE! (Note: This movie does not involve Jack Thompson or his home)
I am very excited about this dramatic new Kilauea Volcano feature film -- it has finally taken form and I have a pretty tight draft-- this movie is really powerful, fast paced and emotionally moving!!
All donators of $20 or more will be listed in the movie credits and receive a signed DVD of the film - See the thank-you gift list further down .

I am really stoked to get started with next steps necessary to get this movie out of my hard drives and professionally finished ; I need to purchase a license for the music tracks I have used and to hire a pro video editor, who is now lined up. Donations will go directly to these two aspects of the film.

Below is a quick overview of the movie project:
Where I am on the film to date:
~
The storyline is finalized and feeling great.
I currently am doing a few more final edits (there are always a few more!) to the raw draft and now need to collaborate with a pro editor to start on the final movie tracks, using my template draft as a guide. ($200 per session)
~
I have had friends drop by to screen the entire current draft (4 times so far) and they were all very impressed with the footage and story and have provide me with valable feedback, which I apply to edits.
As testament to the films quality and appeal, A Seattle-based TV program has recently requested some of my lava footage for an upcoming special segment on volcanoes and lava. As well, all major national news stations (CBS, ABC, Fox, CNN, and NBC) have used compilations of my lava footage. CNN and NBC's top news directors have phoned me to say it is at the top of their list of best quality and dynamic lava footage that they have ever handled. This is also the view of our local Hawaiian news stations.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is difficult for me to ask for help, I always try to accomplish things on my own. I know I am creating a very cool and uniquely special lava movie -- a moving and powerful experience that deserves the very best treatment to retain quality and a broad audience. To accomplish that, I need sponsors to help with the next stage of production costs, or this project will stop at this draft stage for a long time.
I would love to have you be apart this! You can see a tiny example of sample footage, some of which will be in the movie: here, but with the 45 other minutes and soundtrack the whole story is magic!
I would be greatly honored for you to become a FINANCIAL DONOR to this movie project. All funds are directly earmarked for production of just this movie.
I love sharing what is happening here on the Big Island, especially the on-going lava flow and sometimes also reporting on serious changes in the weather and surf conditions. I offer daily reports (less often during non-event times) of these and other Big Island events on this blog ...
From my home I have a 360-degree perspective of land, sea & sky - Mauna Loa & Mauna Kea volcanoes and the ocean entry lava plume when it is active. I surf and often drive past a local surfing shoreline on the way out to the active lava flow zone, providing me with first-hand accounts of all these things I share with you here.
